Fast food restaurant Nando’s opens first SA drive thru in Adelaide’s Munno Para
There was traffic chaos in Adelaide’s north as a fast food restaurant opened its first SA drive-through, giving away 3000 meals and creating huge queues.
Famed peri-peri chicken fast food restaurant Nando’s has opened its first-ever South Australian drive-through this week.
To mark the opening of the new restaurant at Munno Para in Adelaide’s north, Nando’s gave away more than 3000 servings of peri-peri chicken and chips for free.
The fast food chain reported queues of cars around the block.
The first customer to get served was local Cheryl Wilson.
Nando’s Australia and New Zealand brand and customer director Darren Hampton said the new store was the 10th new Nandos which has opened in Australia this year alone and more were expected to open before Christmas.
“Over the next three years, we’re turning up the heat on growth and opening another 25 Nando’s restaurants across Australia and New Zealand, growing our workforce by 1,000 people,” he said.
Nando’s is a South African fast food chain that specialises in Portuguese flame-grilled, peri-peri style chicken.
The new SA store features original works by South African artist Blessing Blaai, with 12 pieces along the booths and artwork above the condiment station.
The chain said the new Munno Para location broke new ground for the brand, as the first Nando’s drive-through in Australia to offer their premium beverages range, including frozen cocktails and beers on tap for dine in guests.
Mr Hampton said the brand would continue to grow across the country.
“Over the next three years, we’re turning up the heat on growth and opening another 25 Nando’s restaurants across Australia and New Zealand, growing our workforce by 1,000 people,” Mr Hamton said.
