Another popular Adelaide Cibo cafe collapses into liquidation
Another Adelaide CBD cafe has closed its doors permanently after Cibo Waymouth Street entered liquidation, marking the fourth Cibo outlet to collapse this year.
Another renowned cafe in Adelaide’s CBD has gone into liquidation after falling into debt.
Cibo Waymouth St shut its doors on Monday, with a sign notifying customers of the closure.
“Please be advised that Rihaan & Co Pty Ltd trading as Cibo Waymouth is in liquidation effective from 1 December 2025,” the sign stated.
Rodgers Reidy liquidator Robert Naudi confirmed Rihaan & Co Pty Ltd was in debt but said he was waiting on a report on the company’s activities to get a better understanding of the problems the business was facing.
It’s currently unclear whether the store would reopen under the Cibo brand.
“We’ve reached out to the Cibo franchise or what is now going to be the Gloria Jean’s franchise, we’ve had initial discussions with the landlord, the landlord would like something to continue there and we’re in discussions with the franchisor about possibly someone else taking it over,” Mr Naudi said.
“If the franchisor can get another party in there and they’re interested in buying those assets, you’ll either have a Cibo or a Gloria Jean’s.”
“It would be really driven off whatever the franchisor decides is best moving forward.”
At least four Cibo Espresso cafes in Adelaide have been placed into liquidation this year.
Last year, the state’s 22 Cibo Espresso cafes were acquired by Gold Coast-based Retail Food Group, which said it would turn them into Gloria Jean’s outlets.
