A man has died following a serious collision between a car and cyclist in the state’s southeast on Tuesday.

It was the second fatality on South Australian roads on Tuesday, with the death of a motorcylist in Paralowie in the afternoon.

The rural crash was reported just after 11.50am yesterday and occurred near the intersection of Dukes Highway and Oliver Road.

The cyclist, a 43-year-old man, sadly died at the scene.

The driver of the van, a 43-year-old from Naracoorte, was not injured in the crash.

Police had closed the Dukes Highway between Keith and Bordertown, with lengthy diversions in place for travellers in the area.

Northwest traffic was being diverted at Meatworks Rd onto Rowney Road through to the Riddoch Highway.

Meanwhile, southeast bound traffic was being diverted along the Riddoch Highway.

It is the latest serious incident involving a cyclist after the tragic death of a Gawler East man on Sunday.

The man’s death is the 76th life lost on South Australian roads so far this year.
