A warning is currently in place for Walkerville residents, after a house fire in the blue-chip suburb on Thursday morning.
The blaze broke out in the roof of a home on Wilsden St, about 10.30am.
The family’s two children, a son and daughter, managed to escape the inferno and save their pet dog from the flames, and there were no reported injuries, the MFS said.

The blaze was brought under control by 30 firefighters, who took about 40 minutes to extingush the flames – but a warning to avoid smoke has since been issued to nearby residents.
According to the MFS, the smoke could “impact traffic and surrounding businesses”.
“Smoke can affect your health,” the warning said.
“Symptoms of exposure includes shortness of breath, wheezing and coughing, burning eyes, running nose, chest tightness, chest pain and dizziness or light-headedness.”
The warning recommended residents stay indoors with windows closed and “appropriate air conditioner settings” on inside the home.
“Avoid vigorous outdoor activities, especially if you have asthma or other chronic lung or heart conditions.”
Fire investigators will try to determine the cause of the blaze today.
