Alleged Hells Angels and 051 associate ‘person of interest’ in broad daylight shooting at disability care provider Better Care Australia

A police probe into a terrifying shooting in a top inner suburb has turned its attention to an alleged associate of a notorious bikie gang, it can be revealed.

A man with suspected ties to the Hells Angels and one of Adelaide’s warring street gangs is a person of interest in a brazen underground car park shooting earlier this year, it can be revealed.

Police say the man is known to be an associate of the bikie gang and 051, one of two feuding groups in Adelaide’s gang war, sources told The Advertiser.

Detectives searched the man’s house after they discovered physical evidence which they believed may have linked him to the crime scene, but he has not been charged over the shooting or with any other wrongdoing.

A citywide manhunt was launched after two shots were fired at the owner of NDIS-registered disability care provider Better Care Australia and a female, believed to be his partner, on February 26. The pair is not accused of any wrongdoing, and police do not suggest that they have any links to any gangs or criminal groups.

A luxury Mercedes was hit during the incident in the underground car park of the Motor Trade Association SA office building on Greenhill Rd at about 8am.

Police at the time said the shooting was targeted and the offender was known to the victims.

There is no suggestion of wrongdoing by the victims.

The Better Care Australia owner declined to comment on the incident.

About two hours after the shooting, a purple Honda Civic used as the getaway car was torched in a Kurralta Park street.

A 51-year-old Fulham Gardens man was charged with arson after initial investigations, while Luca Joseph Campbell, 22, of no fixed address, was arrested on April 4 and charged with arson.

The 51-year-old man was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on June 5.

Mr Campbell was bailed to face the Adelaide Magistrates Court on May 7.

Neither have been charged over the shooting, and no please have been entered.

Detective Chief Inspector Peter Duance said investigations into the shooting were ongoing.

“Police would like to thank those members of the public who have already contacted Crime Stoppers with information and inquiries are continuing,” he said.

“Police wish to reassure the community that this is not believed to be a random incident.”

In January, The Advertiser separately revealed outlaw motorcycle gangs the Hells Angels and the Comanchero had each recruited 051 and Killa Block Squad members to act as foot soldiers in their major drug trafficking operations.

Better Care Australia’s website describes the company as having a “profound commitment to self-help and self-representation for people with disabilities”.

The website says the business was founded in 2021 from a “collective vision to transform the landscape of disability services in South Australia, placing the power to make choices and shape one’s destiny firmly in the hands of those it serves”.
