Serial public masturbator Christopher Roberts appears in Toowoomba Magistrates Court for committing indecent act

A Toowoomba man with a history of being caught naked on CCTV committing bizarre and disturbing sex acts in public is at it again, this time just 24 hours after his release from prison. Here’s what he was caught doing.

Christopher Neale Roberts pleaded guilty to committing an indecent act in a public place in Toowoomba.

A Toowoomba businessman got the shock of his life after he went through his CCTV footage to find out why a man’s T-shirt had been left in his trailer on Tuesday night.

Police prosecutor Alister Windsor said the footage showed Christopher Neale Roberts walk into a car park on Olcott Lane at 2.35am Wednesday, March 15.

Sergeant Windsor told Toowoomba Magistrates Court that Robert stripped off and began masturbating while he lowered himself onto various parts of the trailer, including a metal pole on the corner, and the jockey wheel.

“He then utilised a glass stubby that was located in the trailer and inserted that into his anus all the while masturbating,” he said.

The former jockey was released from prison for committing a very similar crime just 24 hours before he committed the bizarre solo sex act.

In 2022, Mr Windsor said hospital staff arriving for a morning shift found a naked Roberts in the car park lying on his back with his legs in the air while he penetrated himself and masturbated.

Mr Windsor said in 2021 the 36-year-old was caught using garden tools to pleasure himself in a woman’s yard while wearing her underwear which he stole off a clothesline.

During a different spate of illegal and public sexcapades caught on CCTV, Roberts used a number of sticks, large and small, to pleasure himself near the Gold Park Sporting Grounds and in people’s backyards.

At court on Thursday, March 16, Roberts pleaded guilty to committing an indecent act in a place that the public had access to.

Solicitor Ryan McCullough said the qualified concreter had no excuse or explanation for his “concerning and perplexing” behaviour, and that Roberts said he did not have a mental health issue.

Mr McCullough also noted Roberts refused to seek mental health help while at the watch house.

Magistrate Louise Shepard said Roberts clearly had a mental health issue and questioned why he was routinely sent to prison for his actions when it was not deterring him or changing his behaviour.

Ms Shepard said Roberts’ “very disturbing” behaviour was concerning and potentially a risk to the public if it were to escalate.

Ms Shepard told Roberts what he did in the privacy of his own was up to him, but an entirely different matter when done so in public, and in some instances, in front of people.

“It is not normal or acceptable,” she told him.

After spending a night in the watch house, Roberts was placed on an 18-month probation order in hopes that supervision and mental health support would help get his behaviour in check.
