Wisteria Cottage

Toowoomba has quickly transformed into a destination hotspot with the region’s best kept secret stays offering a combination of elegance and charm.

We’ve compiled a list of Toowoomba’s most luxurious Airbnbs based on quality, cost and customer satisfaction.

Wisteria Cottage

When Angela Luck purchased her Middle Ridge property Wisteria Cottage three years ago, she instantly saw its potential but realised it needed a lot of love.

Following a large-scale interior renovation, Ms Luck transformed the modest cottage into a stylish Hamptons luxe escape for guests.

“We wanted to create a bespoke accommodation experience for guests – something that would make them feel like this was their home away from home,” Ms Luck said.

“It’s a privilege for us to host our guests and that’s how we want them to feel.”

Encompassing four modern styled bedrooms, two bathrooms, a spacious deck and cosy gas heater, Ms Luck said it was perfect for travellers and weddings, with just a short distance from prestigious venue Gabbinbar Homestead.

“I feel (our) guests really do get to experience the real country hospitality we offer here in Toowoomba,” she said.

Bunya Bunya Estate

Describing herself as a history buff, Ruchi Shrestha said “it was love at first sight” when she first stepped foot into the federation-era grand home, which she has transformed into a successful Airbnb filled with old-world charm.

Named after the large Bunya Nut tree which greets guests upon entry, Ms Shrestha said the luxury Bunya Bunya Estate also has a stunning fig tree which serves as a home to a family of tawny frogmouth owls.

The Glenvale house has a lot to desire with the major drawcards being the full-sized tennis court, outdoor stone pizza oven and the deck which perfectly catches the sun when it rises and sets.

“Toowoomba is such a lovely, vibrant town, and we knew it would make the perfect place to host large family gatherings itching for a country getaway in the crisp Toowoomba air,” she said.

“Nothing compares to the high you get when guests send you photos of kids cooking with their grandparents and guests having a blast playing tennis together or gushing about how much they loved their stay.”

Still in pristine condition, few cosmetic changes needed to be made to the pet-friendly property, which encompasses six bedrooms, three bathrooms.

The couple who received the keys to the house in early January officially opened it up as a guesthouse in April and have already welcomed almost 30 groups of guests, with bookings continuing to soar.

“I do hope to one day grow old in this beautiful house with my husband,” Ms Shrestha said.
