Many Toowoomba locals have been left proud as punch after receiving an award at a prestigious NAIDOC Week event.
The annual NAIDOC Awards ceremony recognises the hard work, contributions and achievements of indigenous Australians.
More than 200 people attended the dinner in Toowoomba on Saturday night which saw awards distributed across 10 categories.
The full list of winners are:
• Lifetime Achievement – Roger & Pam Robinson
• Service to Community Business – Kulila indigenous Kindergarten
• Service to Community Individual – Charlie Rowe
• Youth of Year – Tyreece Hiles
• Senior Education – Dr Raelene Ward
• Junior Education – Kulli Wightman
• Senior Sports – Emily Young
• Junior Sports – Chace Oates
• Artist of Year – Daphne Jackson
• Disability Award – Jim Sedeek
• Trainee of Year – Savannah Orcher
NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of First Nations People and runs from July 4 to July 11.
