A shameless and brazen daylight racist crime has been slammed by the community and local police.

A Warwick resident reported the matter to police on Sunday after being quite shaken by the offence.

At some point on Sunday morning, it is understood an offender or group of offenders sprayed two racist messages on a family home in central Warwick.

One messages was a slur for African-Americans.

In a brazen move, local police believe the offence was carried out in broad daylight, likely between 10 and 11am on November 24.

Resident Wally McIntosh wrote on Facebook in the aftermath of the horror offending on his parent’s home that positivity had come from the racist offence.

“Something positive to come out of this is knowing that my family are so respected in the community, more than we could have ever imagined, and to you all, friends, strangers or anyone that has posted on here checking on mum (and) dads welfare, and offering to help get rid of the writing,” Mr McIntosh said.

“Thank you all so much,” he wrote.

Warwick officer in charge Senior Sergeant Jamie Deacon labelled the offence as “racist and targeted”.

“Graffiti is a blight on any town, and this offence was particularly nasty as it was visible and clearly targeted,” Senior Sergeant Deacon said.

“Racism is not tolerated, nor is anti-social behaviour in any form.”

Local police are appealing for anyone in the area who may have CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward anonymously via Crime Stoppers.
