Truck rolls over on Bruce Highway, injuring driver and reducing traffic flow at Bowen

A driver has been taken to hospital after his truck rolled in wet conditions on the Bruce Highway near Bowen.

The driver of a small truck was taken to Bowen Hospital after his truck skidded off the road and rolled on the Bruce Highway near Bowen on Thursday afternoon.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said the man suffered head injuries and was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

The accident is believed to have happened at 2.45pm on the Bruce Highway, near Abbott Point Road.

A Queensland Fire Emergency Services spokeswoman said one crew arrived on the scene at 3.05pm.

“The truck went into a culvert and the crew was on the scene to make the scene safe,” she said.

It is understood the road had to be cleared of debris.

A lane was closed; Qld Traffic advised drivers to expect long delays and to find alternate routes.

The vehicle reportedly skidded off the road in the southbound lane.

An Ergon crew was called to the scene after a power pole was reportedly damaged in the crash.
