1. Mandalay House – Lot 5 383 Mandalay Rd, Mandalay
Price Tag: $20-25 million.
Owner: Property developer and yacht seller Neil Murray sold Mandalay House to Sydney-based Bingo Industries founder Tony Tartak for $14 million in 2017.
The Tartak family put the property back up for sale in June 2021 after finding they were spending increasingly more time on their Sydney business interests.
Under the Tartaks’ ownership, the mansion was available to rent for $20,000 a night and hosted US pop star Taylor Swift for three nights during a 2018 Australian tour.
Key features: Mediterranean inspired architecture, private marina, helipad.
2. Solis – 4 Plum Pudding Close, Hamilton Island
Price Tag: Last sold in 2018 with an asking price of $15 million.
Owner: Details are scarce, with the former owner known only as an “international businessman”.
Key features: Three swimming pools, winner of five architectural and interior design awards.
3. Mandalay Aqua – Lot 4 383 Mandalay Rd, Mandalay
Price Tag: $13 million.
Owner: Former owner Melbourne businessman Paul Preat reportedly sold the property to a private company associated with Joe Camilleri, the managing director of Central Cleaning Supplies, in 2018.
A company named Mandalay Aqua Pty Ltd now markets the property as a luxury holiday rental, available for $15,000 a night.
Key features: One of the largest private pools in Australia, swim up bar, private beach.
4. Hayman Estates, Hayman Island
Price Tag: $7.7 million.
Owner: InterContinental Hayman Island Resort owners Malaysian conglomerate Mulpha.
Key features: These four-bedroom, Kerry Hill-designed residences come fully furnished, with a buggy to get around the island, as well as full access to Intercontinental Hayman Island Resort amenities.
5. 1-3 Ocean View Ave, Airlie Beach
Price Tag: $7.5 million.
Owner: Dreamworld theme park creator John Longhurst sold the property to mining entrepreneur and Coral Sea Marina Resort owner Paul Darrouzet in 2017.
Key features: Set on three north-facing oceanfront lots in the heart of Airlie Beach.
6. Chesapeake – Lot 3 184-188 Mandalay Rd, Mandalay
Price Tag: $6.5 million.
Owner: Hog’s Breath Cafe co-founder Don Algie sold the property to horse racing personality Alan Galloway in 2020.
Key features: Unrivalled 360 degree views over Airlie Beach and surrounds, 22 hectares of private land on title, separate caretaker’s cottage.
7. Whitsunday Waters – 11 Great Northern Highway, Hamilton Island
Price Tag: $5.8 million.
Key features: Five large bedrooms, full outdoor kitchen and entertainment area, children’s playground.
8. Heaven’s Gate – 860 Gloucester Ave, Cape Gloucester
Price Tag: Last sold in 2018 for $5 million.
Owner: Neil Timothy Dhar.
Key features: Dubbed Australia’s best beach house, the sprawling modern mansion sits on more than 30 hectares of land including its own mountain, tennis court and 400 metres of secluded beach.
9. Habitat – 13 Marina Tce, Hamilton Island
Price tag: $5-$5.5 million.
Key features: Four bedrooms, all en-suited, with ocean and island views that come alive with the marina activity each day and night.
10. Utopia – 14 Melaleuca Drive, Hamilton Island
Price tag: $4.2 million.
Key features: A tribute to indoor-outdoor living, Utopia features five bedrooms and four bathrooms spread over three private bungalows, surrounded by manicured gardens and towering pines.
11. Iluka – 6 Whitsunday Blvd, Hamilton Island
Price tag: Considering offers over $4 million.

Price tag: $3-4 million.

Owner: Whitsunday property developer Cliff Hill sold the property to Robert Borg in March 2021.

18. Mermaids Reach – 16 Melaleuca Drive, Hamilton Island
