A Whitsunday woman could face up to 14 years jail if convicted over a horror crash that killed her fiancee at Preston earlier this year.
Shontelle Elizabeth Fulton, 41, will face court next month over the June 30 Conway Rd crash that killed her 48-year-old passenger Shannon Dryburgh, with police alleging she was drunk and driving dangerously when the car left the road and rolled several times.
Whitsunday police on Friday charged Mr Dryburgh’s partner Ms Fulton with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death while adversely affected, and driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of liquor, following an investigation that involved sending a blood sample to Brisbane for analysis.
Mr Dryburgh, a father to a teenage girl, died at the scene of the crash.
Witnesses to the horrific scene recalled the mammoth efforts of emergency services who “went over and above” to try and save the Preston man’s life.
Mr Dryburgh was pinned inside the overturned vehicle before he was pulled from the wreckage where paramedics and police tried to revive him.
