A roadside breath test went horribly wrong when a woman allegedly resisted arrest by assaulting two police officers and smashing a body-worn camera.

The incident allegedly occurred after police pulled over the 34-year-old driver about 7pm on January 2 on Herbert St in Bowen.

A police notice by Senior Constable Steve Smith states the woman was arrested and now faces multiple charges.

“It’s further alleged the driver has then assaulted an officer before removing a body-worn camera and throwing it to the ground. She was then restrained by police.

“While being placed into the nearby police vehicle it will be further alleged the woman has then struck another officer.”

The Bowen woman has been charged with common assault, serious assault of a police officer, obstruct police and wilful damage of police property.

The notice states the woman was refused bail and is due to appear in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on January 3.

The alleged incident comes just weeks after a naked Cairns man was shot dead by police outside a Bowen motel, also on Herbert St.

David Dowker, 56, allegedly swung a “cane knife” about 70cm in length towards officers who fired a single shot.
