A Jubilee Pocket man has a jail sentence hanging over his head after he was caught with five bags containing cocaine as well as meth and scales.

Police searched Luke Sebastian Priddle in July and they found the cocaine, which had a total weight of 6.9g and pure weight of 2.446g.

Police also found 1.9g of meth and a set of electric scales.

Priddle in Proserpine Magistrates Court on Monday pleaded guilty to possessing dangerous drugs and property suspected of being used in connection with a drug offence.

Lawyer Peta Vernon, for Priddle, said he had been living in Thailand for four years, had a daughter there and owned and ran bars.

“In 2019 Mr Priddle came home from Thailand for Christmas and it was not his intention to say for long,” Ms Vernon said.

“He did not realise the visa laws had changed and coming home meant he could not go back to Thailand.

“That devastated him, his whole life was in Thailand.”

Ms Vernon said it caused Priddle’s life to take a “dramatic downhill turn” and his 2020 criminal history was “pretty appalling”.

“This is obviously a very serious offence but it was the first in the series of a steady stream of offending throughout the later part of 2020,” Ms Vernon said.

“He was taken into custody before Christmas last year and spent 60 days in custody.”

Ms Vernon said Priddle’s life was now going well, he was drug free and he had started his own worm farm business.

Magistrate James Morton told Priddle, 27, it was clear drugs had a stranglehold on him.

“These are drugs that have serious implications, they ruin people’s lives,” Mr Morton said.

Priddle was sentenced to a total of three months’ jail and the term was immediately suspended for nine months.
