A Whitsunday region dad has been told he is on a “mission to go to jail” after being busted with marijuana, LSD, and a cocktail of non-prescription drugs.
The 27-year-old Cannonvale father fronted Proserpine Magistrates Court on Monday, July 24, after being arrested two days earlier.
The court heard police executed a search warrant at a Cannonvale property just before 1pm on Saturday, July 22, where they found Joshua Ronald Dagen on the couch.
Prosecutor Lachlan Perry said hidden between where the two couches connected were 3.3g of marijuana, a small amount of LSD, seven oxycodone tablets, nine septra and nitrazepam tablets – which Dagen did not have a subscription for, a “huge amount” of jewellery in a black satchel and three stolen bank cards.
Acting Magistrate Stephen Byrne told Dagen he was “on a mission to go to jail” as he already had 13 drug-related charges under his belt, as well as a two months suspended sentence and 12 months of probation.
Duty Officer Cleo Rewald told the court Dagen was living in precarious conditions, residing in an apartment where people were stacked on top of each other.
“It’s a one-bedroom house, with four occupants living inside,” she said.
His one child was not residing with him and was under the care of the mother.
Ms Rewald said Dagen would not get the assistance he needed in custody as he had already had issues surrounding himself with the wrong people.
Dagen pleaded guilty to possessing utensils or pipes, unlawful possession of suspected stolen property, buying or possessing S4 or S8 medicine or hazardous poison, and three counts of possessing dangerous drugs.
He was sentenced to eight months jail with immediate release on parole.
Mr Byrne told him if he offended again, he would not be spared time behind bars.
