Fire crews battle grass fire at Bogie, west of Bowen

Multiple fire crews continue to work on containing a large grass fire that stemmed from a car crash on a rural road west of Bowen.

A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said four crews were currently on scene at a grass fire covering an area about 800m by 250m.

Multiple fire crews are still on the scene battling a large grass fire that started on October 5 following a car crash near Bogie.

A single-vehicle crash was reported about 2.50pm on the Peter Delamothe Rd, between Collinsville and Bowen.
Initial reports suggest a vehicle hit a kangaroo, rolled off the road and caught fire.

No one was injured and all people were out of the vehicle.

The flames engulfed the vehicle and then spread to grassland.

A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said four crews were on scene at a grass fire covering an area about 800m by 250m.

It is understood the terrain is considered to be inaccessible country.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said no patients were assessed.

Fire crews worked to contain the blaze.
The fire was burning safely and was left unattended overnight.
As of 8am October 6 fire crews are working to extinguish the grass fire.
