Court adjourns case of man accused of rape in Cannonvale

The case against an accused Whitsundays sex offender remains unresolved as lawyers seek more time for discussions.

A man accused of rape and sexual assault in the Whitsundays has had his case briefly mentioned in court.

Police allege Jackson Thomas James Norbury committed the offences in early 2023 at Cannonvale.

No plea has been entered.

The man who doesn’t live in the Whitsundays, had his appearance excused with solicitor Mathew Cuskelly appearing in Proserpine Magistrates Court via phone.

The court heard meetings were set for this week to discuss the matter with advice already prepared by Mr Cuskelly.

The matters were adjourned to December 1 to allow time for instructions to be taken.
