Hamilton Island golf buggy incident: Woman flown to Mackay hospital

A woman in her 70s was flown to a Mackay hospital after she was struck in the legs by a golf buggy on Hamilton Island.

A woman in her 70s was flown to a Mackay hospital after she was struck in the legs by a golf buggy on Hamilton Island.

The incident happened about 11pm Monday involving the motorised cart and a pedestrian.

The 74-year-old woman was flown to Mackay Base Hospital in a stable condition with leg injuries.

She remains in hospital in a stable condition.

This comes less than 10 months after the popular island made national news when a new bride was killed in a golf buggy incident on her honeymoon.

In June 2022 a picture perfect holiday turned to tragedy when Marina Morgan was killed in a golf buggy rollover.

It is alleged her newlywed husband had been attempting a U-turn on the corner of Coral Sea Ave and Whitsunday Boulevard as a result his 29-year-old bride.

Attempts by an off-duty firefighter, a doctor and dentist to save her were unsuccessful.

Robbie Awad – also known as Robbie Morgan – is facing four charges, the most serious of which is driving without due care and attention causing the death, over the fatal crash.

He has pleaded not guilty and his matters are ongoing in court.
