Police are investigating a random daylight attack near a popular children’s park in Mackay.
About 2.15pm on March 24, a 50 year old man had been driving on Schapers Rd, Glenella, when he pulled over near a recreational park to ask for travel directions.
A second vehicle has then pulled in behind them and a man walked up to the 50 year old’s driver’s side window.
It is understood a short conversation took place between them before the second man punched the 50 year old in the face, knocking him unconscious.
The second man then left the scene in a silver coloured hatchback.
Police say he is described as being caucasian in appearance, has a long ginger beard, aged between 20 – 30 years of age and with an Irish accent.
“The victim has received medical treatment at the Mackay base hospital for their injuries,” a police spokesman said.
“Anyone who might have relevant dashcam, may have witnessed the incident or who has information is encouraged to contact police as soon as possible.”
