Filming for the first Australian series of smash-hit reality show Below Deck is under way in the Whitsundays, with cast and crew spotted at multiple Airlie Beach locations in recent weeks.
A 55-metre luxury motor yacht currently docked at Coral Sea Marina is believed to be the setting for the first Australian spin-off of the US franchise.
Renamed ‘Thalassa’ for the show, the 20-year-old Superyacht is capable of carrying up to 12 crew on-board and is adorned with original art collections and French antiques.
The dock is strictly off limits to the public during filming, with security guarding the entrance, but film crews and “dressed up” guests have been spotted coming and going regularly.
Sightings have also been reported at Magnums Bar in town.
Online commentary suggests the owner of the yacht is Australian fashion designer and retailer Keri Craig-Lee, and the boat was formerly known as ‘Keri Lee III’.
It was formerly available for charter for just less than $350,000 a week.
