The search for a Whitsunday father of two who has been missing for a month has reached a tragic ending after his body was found.
Family and friends are grieving the loss of Joel Pringle.
The 40 year old was last seen about 4.30pm on August 19 in Cannonvale with the only hint of his whereabouts being a signal from his phone in the Conway National Park and Mount Julian area the following morning.
However after significant search efforts it was confirmed Mr Pringle’s body was found on September 17.
His death has been deemed non suspicious.
“It is with deep sadness that we share the news that Joel was found late yesterday evening. Unfortunately he has passed,” Eve Houghton shared on a social media on September 18.
“We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has come together in the search for Joel – family, friends, and the many people who travelled from far and wide to help.
“We are incredibly thankful to the police, water police, SES, and local businesses that displayed flyers and posters.
“To everyone who offered their support and kindness – your love and care will forever be treasured by Joel’s family and close friends.”
Ms Houghton said the social media page dedicated to finding Mr Pringle would now be closed.
“We kindly ask for your understanding and respect as Joel’s family and friends take time to grieve,” she said.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said a report would be prepared for the coroner in relation to Mr Pringle’s death.
