With an equal 25 per cent of the votes, Elise Scott Cosmetics & Beauty and Lush Beauty Bar have tied for the overall crown of best lashes in the Whitsundays.
Coming in at a close second is Hey Boo Lashes in Airlie Beach with 20 per cent and a bronze medal for Nails and Lashes by Yuli at 10 per cent.
First place TIE: Elise Scott Cosmetics & Beauty AND Lush Beauty Bar
Elise Scott Cosmetics & Beauty owner Elise Scott has also taken top gong for the Daily Mercury’s best brows in 2023.
Located in Bowen, Ms Scott also travels across the region in Mackay, Moranbah, and in the Whitsundays to provide her services to a range of happy clients.
Alongside lashes, Ms Scott also offers a range of cosmetics procedures from lip blush tattooing, eyeliner tattooing, and of course brows.
Jessie Mayers co-owns Lush Beauty Bar with her sister Jenna, working in the beauty and wedding industry for the last nine years, but Jessie has been dedicated solely to lashes for over four.
Though based in Mackay, Lush Beauty Bar has worked across the Whitsunday region and Ms Mayers said she was “really thankful” people had voted for her.
“It’s very exciting, it’s nice to know the connections you make and the work you do is being noticed,” Ms Mayers said.
Second place: Hey Boo Lashes
Hey Boo Lashes owner Rebecca Cook may have only been lashing for about a year, but her clients clearly have loved her work and awarded her the silver medal in the Whitsundays.
“I am absolutely shocked and over the moon about coming second as I had absolutely no idea there was a competition happening,” Ms Cook said.
“So knowing my clients have been supporting me without me even knowing is truly special and I cannot thank them enough.”
Working out of Airlie Beach, Ms Cook said she took pride in every set she does and liked to involve her clients in both monthly and weekly giveaways on her social media.
Third place: Nails and Lashes by Yuli
Owner Yuli Kuzma started her business as a “side hustle” doing nails for friends and family in 2015, but has since grown her client list and her skills in lash application.
Originally from Ukraine, she said it was a “wonderful feeling” to have “brought bronze to the Proserpine community” where her home salon is based.
“I’ve felt such pride for my whole week ... every single day with a smile on my face,” Ms Kuzma said.
