A car is on its top in South Mackay after a collision with a light pole.

Emergency services are on scene at Illawong Dr, South Mackay following a car crashing into a light pole, with the car completely rolling over just before 10am.

The car collided with a green light pole, visibly denting it and pushing it into the canopy of a nearby tree.

Queensland Fire Department station officer Matt Greiger said the driver was able to free themselves by the time emergency services arrived.

“It went up the pole a bit and slowly rolled over,” Mr Greiger said.

“It looks worse than it is.”

Paramedics are assessing a single patient in a stable condition and council employees are on scene providing traffic control.

Mr Greiger said Ergon were on the way to disconnect and fix the pole before the area was reopened to the public.

This comes after an incident on Shute Harbour Rd just outside Proserpine where a car crashed into a power pole.

Paramedics transported a stable patient from the crash to Proserpine Hospital just after 7am.

They reportedly suffered facial and leg injuries.
More to come.
