PGA’s Andrew Farrow places Pro Golf, oyster bar into liquidation

An Australian pro-golfer has sunk his business dreams as he places multiple Whitsunday businesses into voluntary liquidation while owing creditors more than $100,000.

An Australian pro-golfer has sunk his business dreams as he places his oyster and champagne bar as well as his golfing store into voluntary liquidation.

PGA member of more than 30 years, Andrew Farrow, is the director of The World Is Pty Ltd, a company trading as Shooter’s Sports Bar, Pro Shop Mackay, Pro Shop Whitsunday, Airlie Beach Golf, and Shuckz.

Documents lodged with the Australian Securities and Investment Commission show The World Is, which is registered to a Cannonvale address, entered into liquidation on July 24 with John Maxwell Morgan as liquidator.

A company extract shows Mr Farrow, who lives in the Whitsundays, jointly owns 45 per cent of the company with Stacy Richelle Harvey.

Christopher Lee Harvey owns 10 per cent and Hamilton Island Water Sports owns the remaining 45 per cent.

Mr Farrow was publicly connected to the Pro Shop Bar in Cannonvale which now sits empty with for lease signs on the glass. A fortnight ago, the shop had advertised a “massive clearance sale”.

The Bar was also the location of Airlie Indoor Golf – which offered coaching, iron and driver fitting, a “state of the art” FlightScope Golf Simulator, drinks and snacks, kids lessons, family games and more – but its website has been removed.

Mr Farrow, a PGA Certified Coach since 1993, was also connected to the now “permanently closed” Shuckz Oyster and Champagne Bar which had operated along Shute Harbour Rd in Airlie Beach.

Its Facebook page last posted about oyster offerings in early 2020.

Documents show The World Is has an estimated assets base of $39,594 with a total liabilities of almost $103,000.

Mr Farrow submitted a list of 16 creditors, many of them golf-related businesses, which are collectively owed $101,607.58.

The largest creditor is the Australian Taxation Office with $30,000 followed by Ray White Whitsunday at $21,800.

Mr Farrow, whose career includes the Australian PGA Tour from 1995-98, working at NSW’s Concord Golf Club and Camden Lakeside Country Club, as well as for South African golfer Gary Player in Malaysia and Singapore, earlier told this publication he wanted to give back to the region’s golfers including running kids clinics.

This publication contacted Mr Farrow for comment but did not receive a response.
