Weddings with unvaccinated remain restricted to 20 guests under Queensland’s new rules

Weddings with even just one unvaccinated guest will continue to fall under strict restrictions, the Premier says, after confirming vaccinated Queenslanders will enjoy a range of new freedoms once the state hits 80 per cent double dosed.

Weddings with even just one unvaccinated guest will still be restricted by Covid rules under the state’s new guidelines.

Once the state hits 80 per cent fully vaccinated people, or by December 17, new public health measures mean fully vaccinated Queenslanders will only be allowed into certain venues.

While unvaccinated people will be banned from pubs, clubs, restaurants, government-owned stadiums and more, they will still be allowed to attend weddings – subject to restrictions.

Under the new guidelines, a fully vaccinated wedding will have no density or social distancing restrictions.

But a wedding with even just one unvaccinated guest, including the wedding party and officials, can have a maximum of just 20 people in attendance.

Similarly, unvaccinated people will still be able to attend other settings including retail and public transport, but density restrictions will still apply as per Queensland’s current Covid Safe Future Roadmap.

The announcement came on Tuesday morning from Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk who said it was a “reward” for vaccinated Queenslanders.

“The pandemic has been a long, hard road,” she said.

“Soon our borders will open and Covid will be in our communities. This is about keeping our freedoms.”
