Storms expected for parts of Queensland
Storms are expected to continue throughout parts of Queensland today after severe storms triggered 100km/h wind gusts and caused widespread damage for one outback town.

Storms are expected to continue throughout parts of Queensland today after strong storm cells caused up to 100km wind gusts in the southeast on Saturday.
With possible showers set for the southeast on Sunday, Bureau of Meteorology Meteorologist Kimba Wong said a south-easterly change was pushing north.

“A chance of storms and possibly severe storms further north of Brisbane today, possibly north of Bundaberg and possibly some severe thunderstorms with most likely the risk of damaging winds and heavy rainfall rather than hail north of Rockhampton into the northwest,” she said.
It comes after strong wind gusts and hail tore through the southeast late Saturday evening.
“The weather station reported 100km/h gust at Brisbane airport at 5.50pm and at Inner Beacon in Moreton Bay at 6.10pm with that storm it reported a 107km/h.”
“We also had widespread reports of 3cm-4cm hail through western and northern parts of Brisbane.”
Ms Wong said rainfall totals were generally around 15mm to 25mm.
Out west in Muckadilla, near Roma, strong winds caused havoc across the town, knocking down trees and fences.
It comes one year after 14cm giant hail smashed southeast Queensland, causing destruction in Springfield, Rosewood, Greenbank and Forestdale.
Three people were trapped inside their home after a roof collapse and more than 50,000 properties lost power as a supercell of nine “life-threatening” severe storm fronts unleashed its fury last Halloween.
