“Brisbane is experiencing storm activity, and we did just see a lightning strike outside of our window here at the Bureau.
“I’m not expecting severe storms over the city but a few rumbles of thunder over the next couple hours.”
Ms Pattie said storms were not expected to impact the Sunshine Coast, although may reach as far north as Caboolture.
A severe storm warning for the southern interior was cancelled by BOM at 6.03pm however some parts still experienced strong wind gusts.
“There are no severe storms at the moment, although we have seen some gusts at Dalby at about 76km/hour,” Ms Pattie said.
“Oaky picked up 67km/h.
Ms Pattie said “not much” rain is expected from the storms.
“The highest we’ve seen so far is 9mm,” she said.
“Not a great deal of rainfall as they are moving quite quickly.”
