The Easter long weekend will bring sunny and warm conditions for beach goers on Friday and Saturday before clouds move in on Easter Sunday.

The Bureau of Meteorology says Brisbane will experience maximum temperatures in the early 30s on Friday and Saturday before a trough creates cloudy conditions on Sunday.

Good Friday is expected to have a maximum temperature of 31 and 32 on Saturday. The mercury will drop back to 31 on Sunday as a trough moves through.

“It could bring bring cloudy, cool conditions, with potential light showers,” senior meteorologist Livio Regano said.

It will be a different story in the west, which Mr Regano said would be as “dry as chips” up until Easter.

Northern areas of Queensland including Townsville and the Whitsundays are expected to experience heavy rainfall, paired with warm conditions for the first half of this week.

Over the Easter weekend conditions will be mostly sunny with tops of 32C on Saturday and 33C on Sunday, with slight chance of showers.

“The uniting theme up north is that it’s been warmer than average and it will stay consistent over Easter unfortunately,” Mr Livio said.
