Warwick police deal with assault, theft as New Year begins
Warwick police have been kept busy into the New Year, with 2024 kicking off with thefts, assaults and a resident reportedly being bitten.

The New Year has kicked off with a bang, and while residents begin heading back to work, Warwick police have been kept busy responding to a variety of offences.
From vehicle thefts to a reported biting, here’s what you missed in the last week in the Rose City.
ASSAULT
Local police received information that a person had been assaulted in a residential area of Fitzroy Street on Sunday.
The complainant had allegedly been bitten at least twice during the assault.
Police are investigating the matter.
THEFT
Police are investigating after a quantity of tools was stolen about 8pm on Friday from a property on Toolburra Plains Road, west of Warwick.
Police are currently viewing CCTV and talking to witnesses.

At about 1.30am on Monday morning, a Volkswagen station wagon was stolen from an address in Pratten Street.
It appears that the offender has gained entry to the victim’s house through a window to locate the keys to the vehicle which was then taken from a shed.
The vehicle was located later that day burnt out across the border in northern NSW.
Warwick CIB’s investigations continue in relation to this matter.
TRESPASS
Police received information about a female seen in a house yard in Shilliday Street at about 2pm on Friday afternoon.
They attended and spoke to a 25-year-old Warwick woman who was subsequently charged with trespass and possession of prescription medication and will appear in court in February.
PUBLIC NUISANCE
Police were called to a disturbance in Fitzroy Street at about 5pm on Wednesday night, involving a 61-year-old woman and a number of other people.
She was issued with an $464 Infringement notice for Public Nuisance.
Hours later, at about 11pm, police attended a disturbance in Yarrawonga Street in north Warwick. A 47-year-old Warwick woman was issued an Infringement notice for Public Nuisance.
TRAFFIC OFFENCES
At about 9am Tuesday, a 27-year-old Warwick woman was driving on Wallace Street when she was intercepted and saliva tested.
She will subsequently appear in Warwick Magistrates Court at a later date for driving with a relevant drug in her system.
At about 6pm on Thursday, a 21-year-old Warwick man was issued a notice to appear after being intercepted and tested on Pine Street, at Warwick. He faces one charge of driving with a relevant drug in his system and will appear in court in coming weeks.
Shortly after 2pm on Friday, a two-vehicle traffic crash occurred on the Warwick-Allora Road, at Rosehill.
Witnesses told police that a vehicle was travelling over a single lane bridge when a second vehicle drove onto the bridge, forcing the first vehicle to reverse back and causing damage to it.
The second vehicle drove away without stopping following the crash.
There were no injuries and police are continuing investigations.
Warwick Highway Patrol have been kept busy on the roads in the Warwick area in so far in 2024.
In addition to the drug drivers mentioned above, 18 infringement notices have been issued for a variety of detected offences in the first seven days of the new year including speeding, disobeying directional signs, and driving unregistered / uninsured vehicles.
Police are urging to motorists to take care on the roads in our area in order to avoid serious traffic crashes.
