Queensland records two new local COVID-19 cases

Warwick has been linked to another confirmed, locally acquired case of Covid in the state within the past 24 hours.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk revealed at a press conference on Thursday morning that a Beaudesert woman in her teens who tested positive to the virus spent “a couple of days” infectious in the community in Warwick.

The woman then spent half a day in Beaudesert before receiving the positive Covid result in home quarantine.

Ms Palaszczuk confirmed the case was linked to the Moree cluster in New South Wales.

“If you have any concerns, please come forward and get tested,” she said.

It comes only a day after a person tested positive to the virus in Warwick, putting the region on high alert as contact tracing continues to unfold.

Deputy chief health officer Doctor Lynne McKinlay announced on Wednesday that the resident was unvaccinated and identified as First Nations, and been infectious in the community for up to 10 days.

The Condamine Sports Club in Warwick on November 2 from 9am – 10pm and the Warwick RSL on November 3 from 8.40pm – 9.10pm remain the only exposure sites listed by Queensland Health at this stage.

A drive-through testing clinic has been established at the Warwick Showgrounds, which will operate from 8am – 4pm daily until further notice.

It joins existing testing sites at Sullivan Nicolaides and the Guy Street fever clinic run by the Condamine Medical Centre.

Darling Downs Health has closed Warwick Hospital and Oak Tree Retirement Village to visitors, with residents asked to contact their treating team directly for end-of-life or maternity reasons.

More than 67 per cent of Southern Downs residents have been fully vaccinated against Covid as of Monday.
