Dashcam footage of Facebook users harrowing near miss with truck outside Goondiwindi

A southern Queensland social media community page has left followers in a state of shock after dashcam footage of a terrifying experience was released.

Goondiwindi Notice Board took to Facebook on Sunday to post harrowing dashcam footage of the moment their vehicle was forced to weave between what appears to be two B-double trucks.

Hair-raising audio can be heard of the moment the couple realised one of the heavy vehicles was attempting to overtake the other just after a bend in the highway.

A man can be heard asking his female passenger if two trucks are approaching them, as the bright headlights of the heavy vehicle momentarily impact their vision.

Quick thinking efforts from the driver of the vehicle saw them narrowly weave between the two heavy vehicles, and back on to the left side of the highway.

According to the social media post the incident occurred outside of Goondiwindi, however, it is unclear whether it happened within Queensland or over the border in NSW.

“The truck is moving, you can see the water his tyres are kicking up, he had also applied brakes,” Goondiwindi Notice Board wrote.

“It is double white lines around that corner, I have reported it to police but with no number plate or company visible, there is not much they can do unless I can get that info.”

The post has captured the attention of thousands, with users left gobsmacked.

“Great skills by the dashcam driver, saved at least two lives there,” one user wrote.

“Well done for not panicking very good driving, poor decision from (the) truck though,” another user wrote.

In a separate incident on the Newell Highway two people were killed after two trucks collided 35km north of Moree on Monday night.

Emergency services were called to the scene about 10pm on Monday night, finding a tipper truck and a B-double had collided.

Transport NSW has reported 37 fatalities this year relating to heavy vehicles in the state, with the majority of fatalities being other motor vehicle passengers and drivers.

In Queensland, Transport and Main Roads has reported 27 fatalities this year involving heavy freight vehicles.
