RODEO: Julie Small has recorded a second in north-east Victoria in her first season in pro rodeo.

The Warwick mother is competing in the Christmas Run of rodeos in Victoria and New South Wales and started with a second at Myrtleford in Victoria on Boxing Day.

She is travelling on the Australian Professional Rodeo Association circuit in Victoria and New South Wales with two of her sons, Mitch and Brock Eastwell, and daughter Tahnee Small.

The fifth member of the group competing is Mitch's girlfriend Kylie Hancock who is a breakaway roper.

Both Julie and her son Brock were second at Myrtleford, Brock in the steer roping.

Mitch split first in steer roping at Yarrawonga with Victorian and former Warwick rider Lee Kimber after both were clocked at 3.75 seconds.

Tahnee was third in breakaway roping at Yarrawonga giving mother-and-daughter each one placing in roping in the first two rodeos they competed in.

They will compete at Tumbarumba today and then move on to rodeos at Wangaratta, Finley and K Ranch at Mt Hunter, Sydney. The family group is travelling on the Christmas Run with six horses.

In October this year at Warwick Rodeo APRA National Finals, Mitch won the rope and tie title and the third roping brother in the family, Wade, won the average.
