Under 14s romp home in final

THE Warwick under-14 representative netball team claimed victory in the Darling Downs Interdistrict netball finals held in Toowoomba on Sunday.
The girls put up a convincing grand final win over Goondiwindi, winning 28-9.
Coach Helena Fraser was impressed with the girls' performance.
"They went through the season, a total of 20 games, undefeated," she said.
Fraser said their strong performance in the first few games led them to be put up from the 14 years division one competition into the 15/16 years division two competition.
Fraser said they were determined to succeed.
"The girls put in a lot of hard work and are willing to learn," she said.
"They have the drive to succeed in the sport; they are not just playing for fun.
"They are a very competitive team."
At the end of the game a selector picked the players of the game.
"Leah Blakemore won the best centre on court," Fraser said.
"Dimity Brackin won the best defence player and Jourdan Ellery the best shooter.
Fraser said all the girls played well.
"After the game the selector who selected the three players of the game said she had a very hard time deciding," she said.
"She said she could have picked all seven players on the court for Warwick."
The team was selected in October last year for the State Age Championship, which was played in June.
"The girls also play in the Ladies B grade competition in Warwick and I think this has helped them a lot," Fraser said.
"They are currently equal first."
Next on the team's agenda is the Ladies B grade finals in September.
