Travelling 490km to participate in the carnival, five teams from the Stanthorpe Netball Association put their best foot forward and are now hopeful of making it to the grand final in Toowoomba later this year.
The competing divisions ranged from 11-12, 13-14, 15-16 years and this year included an opens division, with each securing a few wins and losses across the board.
Stanthorpe Netball Association president and coach Natalie Vedelago said this was the first time since 2020 they’ve had an opens team competing at this level.
“The teams are proving to be strong and played quite well on the weekend. We had a few wins and losses and are hoping to make it to the grand finals in Toowoomba,” Mrs Vedelago said.
“We have two teams in the 11-12 years division, with one of the teams sitting at second on the ladder for their division.”
The next inter-district competition for the Stanthorpe teams is to be held in Laidley on July 16 and is the last for the respective divisions before the grand final rounds out in Toowoomba on August 6.
