Toowoomba Twisters blew away their opposition at the recent Queensland Junior State Cup. See who our list of 30+ star representative male and female Garden City juniors here.

The Toowoomba Twisters were a force to be reckoned with at the recent Queensland Touch Football Junior State Cup.

Up against teams from Cairns in the north all the way down to Tweed Heads, the Garden City’s best male and female rep stars put their skills to the test.

Here’s a look the top performers from the 3-day carnival.

U12 Boys White

Jonathon Ward

A composed and commanding co-captain. Playing as an organising middle, he thrives under pressure, directing play with clarity and precision. A natural leader, he sets the benchmark for excellence in both attack and defence, consistently lifting the performance of those around him.

Declan Campbell

The co-captain plays with unmistakeable swagger and finesse. Renowned for his diving and pinpoint long balls that find his winger in space, he’s a constant threat and a driving force behind his team’s success. With a cool head and exceptional vision he is the kind of player every coach wants in their starting line-up.

Oscar Rickuss

A dynamic, ball-playing link who commands possession with purpose and precision. His sharp vision and instinctive reading of the game allow him to carve out scoring opportunities for himself or deliver the perfect final pass to set up a teammate. A true two-way threat, he leads by example in both attack and defence, instilling confidence and composure across the team.

U12 Boys Blue

Patrick James

Lead the team tremendously with his ability to win the ruck. He also was a dominant force in attack leading the try scoring for the entire division.

James Jenkins

A crafty ball player, who steers the team around the park. He makes players beside him better with his communication and ability to put them into space.

Metui Pengilly

A quiet achiever who has electric footwork. He is a threat close to the line with his diving ability and speed to match.

U12 Girls Blue

Ruby Land

As a bottom age player stepping up into 12s this year, she is already showing she has what it takes. She offers an unbreakable wall of defence, and insane speed on our wing. She was also one of the top try scorers thanks to her reliable support play.

Ella Rowan

Gets through incredible amounts of work in a game of footy. Her engine sees her chew metres and shutdown her opponents. She also provided fantastic guidance an leadership to her peers on the field.

Ella Pauli

An absolute firecracker – the type of player who saves the day with chase downs and determination. Off field she’s a bubbly personality that supports her teammates beautifully. On field she’s a beast who darts around any complacent defender.

U14 Boys Blue

Harris McGrath

The skipper captain led from the front, consistently being one of the better players in attack and defence. His leadership was evident throughout the campaign and gained the respect of the playing group with his efforts.

Ethan Young

During the duration of the Twisters experience Ethan gained in confidence which led to him being a constant threat in attack, highlighting his speed of the mark to constantly pose a threat to opponents. His proved to be a great team player and a valuable part of the team.

Oliver Ehrlich

One of the quiet achievers of the team who did a lot of the hard yards in attack and defence, His positive attitude and demeanour made him a very popular part of the team and has a big future in the game.

U14 Boys White

Billy Bishop

Had a strong tournament, consistently looking threatening and creating opportunities. Small in stature but big in heart, he gave everything for his team in every match.

Chayse Hunt

Worked hard on both sides of the ball. Stepped up when needed and played an important role for the team throughout the competition.

Mason Fuller-Sandys

Showed great improvement across the tournament. Often one of the unsung heroes, he did a mountain of work in defence and made smart decisions under pressure.

U10 Girls White

Molly Dewar

The team’s leading try scorer, used her impressive speed and fearless dives to cross the line, while also working hard in the ruck and defending with determination.

Jemma McHugh

A true leader on the field, rucking quickly and setting up play, consistently demonstrating grit and determination in every game.

Addy Jakobi

Showed excellent improvement throughout the season and was a real workhorse on the field, making valuable metres when rucking and consistently proving herself a great team player.

U12 Girls White

Ciara Hellyer

Toughest player on the field showing pure grit and determination.

Azahlee Blades

Dominated the field with her defence and ability to shut down tries.

Violet Richardson

Played with composure, while still prepared to give it her all.

U14 Girls White

Lucy Dewar

A solid wing defender who rarely misses anything when on field. Her ability to throw her body around on field makes her a threat especially when defending her line.

Ava Spain

A quiet achiever who plays a solid game alongside her creative middle. She thrives off the communication on field making good meters to our attacking line. A great working middle.

Piper York

With her fast and steppy game play she is a threat when she scoops from half and breaks through when attacking the line. A strong link player who listens to her middle playmakers when on field.

U16 Boys White

Nate Scott

Nate played a great carnival shining in attack and defence. His cut out long passing was a highlight and was key in attack.

Xavier Newton

The captain of the side led the team thru an ankle injury. His speed to beat players was a highlight.

Jack McBeth

New to representative touch and was a standout with eight tries and two full field intercepts.

Under 16 Girls

MiKaela Blades

Stepped up as a key leader, combining skill and communication to help guide the team when it was needed most.

Amelia Kidd

Showed outstanding leadership on and off the field helping to bringing our team together, playing smart confident and consistent touch football.

Romy Wilson

Led by example with her high work rate and calm presence, delivering strong performances in every game.

U18 Girls White

Rose Ramia

A quiet achiever and her defensive performance kept her team in the game. Rose grew in confidence and was a pivotal member of the Twisters side.

Ebony Lewington

A very dependable, consistent player both in attack and defence and delivers game after game. She was a constant attacking threat causing the opposition headaches at the line.

Maggie Walker

Maggie was a real leader of the team. Her experience shone through guiding them around the park. She was an attacking threat at the line and made some tremendous defensive reads.

U14 Girls Blue

“Officials from the Twisters team provided a small rundown on their state title campaign.

“In a nailbiting finish, our incredible girls touch football team secured the runners up title in dramatic style, making it through via an ever intense drop off, down to just three players on the field. The game winning moment came when Maddie crossed the line with a try that secured our spot in the grand final.

“Throughout the season, Mae and Adelaide were rock solid in the middle, proving to be an invaluable asset to the team with their relentless effort and drive. Playmakers Olivia and “Abbey consistently steered the team around the park, executing set plays with precision and confidence.

“Workhorses Bella, Zoe, Poppie, Coco, Giaan and Charlotte brought energy, commitment and consistency, standing out in every single game. Meanwhile, clever wingers Kiara and Mya were vital in both attack and defence, always ready to support their teammates with smart positioning and solid plays.

“Credit must go to Coach Jenna Taylor, whose outstanding leadership and coaching not only developed the team’s skillset but guided them all the way to the State Cup. An unforgettable season for a truly special group of girls.”
