School broken into, traffic crash and dodgy drivers, fire and pub fracas keep Warwick police on their toes

It’s been another busy week for emergency responders in the Southern Downs, with local police responding to a variety of matters across the region. Here’s what you missed in the last seven days.

It’s been another busy week for emergency responders in the Southern Downs, with local police responding to a variety of matters across the region.

From fires in public places, traffic matters and even a school being broken into, police have dealt with multiple incidents recently.

Here’s what you missed in the last seven days.

Fire

Just after midnight on Thursday, Police responded to a fire at a public toilet in Queens Park in central Warwick.

A member of the public notified local police who were joined by local firefighters to extinguish the fire.

Police are currently investigating the matter.

Traffic incidents

On Saturday, a 51-year-old Warwick man will appear in Warwick Magistrates Court at an upcoming date after being nabbed by police driving on Percy Street, Warwick at about 1am.

He was subsequently tested and underwent a breath test, returning a staggering reading of 0.162 BAC.

At about 2:15am, a 26-year-old Warwick male was also breath tested after driving on Percy Street and returned a reading of 0.073 BAC.

He will appear in Warwick Magistrates Court later this month.

At about 5pm, a blue Santa Fe station wagon failed to stop when intercepted for a traffic offence on Freestone Road.

The vehicle was last seen speeding east on Freestone Road.

This matter is still under investigation by police.

On Sunday around 9.30pm, an 18-year-old Warwick man with a P licence, was involved in a minor single vehicle crash on East Street, Warwick.

He was subjected to an RBT and returned a reading of 0.043 BAC.

He will appear in Warwick Magistrates Court later this month.

Thefts

Sometime overnight on September 26, an offender or offenders broke into a school workshop on Glengallan Road, and stole a quantity of items including tools.

Investigations are continuing.

Disturbance

On Sunday, police attended a disturbance outside a licenced premises near the corner of Palmerin and Victoria Streets.

A 36-year-old Warwick woman was arrested and later issued with Infringement notices for Public Nuisance and Obstruct Police.
