Residents say thanks to centre

THE Killarney Memorial Aged Care facility last week hosted the Allora Medical Centre to show their appreciation for their ongoing support.

RESIDENTS and staff of the Killarney Memorial Aged Care facility last week hosted their friends and neighbours from the Allora Medical Centre to show their appreciation for their ongoing support.

Facility manager Brad Jones said last Wednesday's morning tea - complete with cake and gifts - was a display of gratitude for unwavering support over the past 12 months.

In October 2010, Dr Leith Geisel and practice nurse Liz Henry began attending Kadimah Nursing Home and Leslie Place Hostel on a weekly basis.

Mr Jones said since that time the health professionals had offered comprehensive care and around-the-clock support for residents.

The camaraderie between the two facilities had been the foundations of a strong friendship and offered residents access to additional facilities and services.

"For the last six months Dr Geisel has been able to broaden the visits to assist staff, their families and some community members as patients and has been in discussions with regards to future expansion including teleconferencing with city-based medical specialists," Mr Jones said.

"Through this association the Allora Medical Practice has facilitated visits to Killarney from dietitian Brady Schultz and Podiatrist Rebecca Gilroy of Firm Foundations Podiatry."
