A development permit to subdivide a major piece of land outside Warwick has resurfaced after a new application was resubmitted.

The site at Lot 124 Carbine St, Rosenthal Heights covers the same area as the playing surface of 12 MCGs and has proposed to reconfigure the 25.38ha into 117 lots over four stages.

It’s understood a development permit was previously submitted to council for the Carbine St site in 2023, with inactivity by the previous consultant listed as the reason for the stall.

The vacant land is owned by PJ Kruger Holdings Pty Ltd who also operates the nearby Lyndhurst Stud.

In the application submitted by current consultants Barlow Shelley Consulting Engineers, stage one will consist of subdividing the first 38 lots, with the remaining three stages to vary in size.

The current application was submitted to Southern Downs Regional Council for consideration on November 18.

The ongoing housing crisis in the Southern Downs has seen very little ease, as families and individuals struggle to find steady accommodation.

In Warwick, residents are equally feeling the cost of living pinch with a not-for-profit organisation noticing a significant increase in the number of families accessing their service.
