Several Warwick homes have been targeted by thieves and another stack of residents will soon face court for drug-related offending as police continue to investigate the town’s recent crime wave.

Offenders struck at a Dragon St home at about 12.50am Saturday, breaking into a vehicle parked in a carport at the front of the property.

Warwick police acting officer-in-charge Sergeant Cameron Slater said the culprits stole a handbag with a credit card and other personal belongings inside, with detectives still looking at CCTV footage to determine the culprits.

Thieves then let themselves into a Baguley St home through an unlocked sliding door between 10pm Saturday and 8am Sunday, making off with a mobile phone.

Sergeant Slater said the incidents came only hours after a brazen theft at a Percy St home on Friday.

“A male person in a silver dual-cab ute has pulled up at the front of (the house) and they’ve got out and picked up a dog from the front yard, got back into the vehicle and driven off,” Sergeant Slater said.

The theft was captured on security cameras at a nearby property and the dog has since been returned to its owners.

Investigations are ongoing and no charges have been laid in regard to any of the thefts at this stage.

Warwick’s increasing drug driving numbers again showed no signs of slowing in the past week, with another several residents charged with the offence in just a few days.

A 24-year-old Caboolture man, a 33-year-old Warwick woman, and a 21-year-old Warwick man were all allegedly busted behind the wheel with drugs in their system between 4pm and 8.30pm Sunday.

Sergeant Slater said a 21-year-old man from Eight Mile Plains was charged with drug driving that same afternoon, and was also given a drug diversion after police found a small amount of marijuana and a bong in his vehicle.

All four people are due to appear in Warwick Magistrates Court in August.
