Warwick court: Third person charged with horrifying rape, torture of 22yo Warwick woman

A Warwick man has joined the couple co-accused of a terrifying hours-long assault on a 22-year-old woman, with police to allege the man orchestrated the most shocking attack from his hospital bed.

A Warwick man has become the third person charged over the alleged rape and torture of a young Warwick woman during a horrifying hours-long assault, with police claiming the man ordered the attack from his hospital bed.

The man in his 30s, who cannot yet be named for legal reasons, is currently in custody and did not appear in person when his matter was mentioned in Warwick Magistrates Court this week.

He faces one charge each of rape, torture, and observation or recording in breach of privacy.

It will be alleged the man was a patient in hospital when he ordered his two co-accused, a Warwick woman in her 40s and a Gatton man in his 50s, to carry out the most serious parts of the attack on the 22-year-old woman in February.

Police claim the Gatton man went to the alleged victim’s home and demanded she get in his vehicle, then picked up his partner on the way to another house in the Warwick CBD.

The pair allegedly held the woman captive and tortured her for hours, including the man bashing her legs with a metal bar and the woman holding a large kitchen knife to her throat.

It will be further alleged the Gatton man raped the woman both digitally and with his penis before the Warwick woman used a male pit bull dog to rape the victim while her partner filmed it on his phone.

Police say the sexual assaults were performed as instructed by the Warwick man, who also had the video clip of the alleged rape involving the dog sent to his phone.

The pair then allegedly forced their victim to call the Warwick CIB and leave a voicemail falsely confessing to being involved in another criminal matter before releasing her.

Officers searched the home where the Gatton man and Warwick woman were staying the next day, where they allegedly found a bracelet and phone stolen from the 22-year-old and the graphic recording on the man’s phone.

The remaining two co-accused face one charge each of bestiality, torture, rape, kidnapping, extortion, assault occasioning bodily harm, robbery while armed in company, recording in breach of privacy, and common assault.

The Gatton man is charged with an additional two counts of rape and one of possessing dangerous drugs, and the Warwick woman faces an unrelated charge of possessing drug utensils.

The Warwick court heard this week that all of the Gatton man’s matters, excluding the drug charge, had now been committed to higher court proceedings, while his two co-accused’s cases were still waiting on further evidence and instructions before progressing.

All three matters were adjourned to September 7 in Warwick Magistrates Court, with each of the accused to be remanded in custody and excused from appearing in person at their next court date.
