A woman who killed her ex-partner after dousing him in petrol and setting him alight in a horrific house fire near Brisbane has been identified as a former Warwick resident.

Sarah Mudge, 31, was killed in the blaze she allegedly started at her ex-partner Stanley Obi’s Logan home in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The 33-year-old man was initially rushed to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with critical burns to 90 per cent of his body, but sadly died on Thursday night.

Police allege Mudge broke into Mr Obi and his new partner’s home and went to their bedroom, covering the couple in petrol before setting them on fire. Police say a child Mudge shared with Mr Obi was also in the bed at the time.

Mr Obi’s partner suffered airway burns and was transported to hospital in a serious condition, and three children aged five, three, and two managed to escape the house and were taken to hospital for observation.

Mudge’s own body was later discovered in the gutted New Beith house.

Reports have now indicated Mudge was a former resident of Warwick and its surrounds, with frequent posts in Facebook groups such as ‘Warwick Buy, Swap, and Sell’.

The mother also reportedly worked as a self-taught photographer in the Toowoomba region.

Mudge posted a meme from Relationship Rules as her Facebook story about nine months ago, with reports describing the words as “chilling” in light of this week’s shocking incident.

“She’s not toxic bro. You made her like that. Now, you think that she is crazy,” the meme said.

“Your decisions reflect her actions. Check yourself.”

Investigations into the fire are ongoing.
