A mother-of-three has landed in hot water after a botched drug deal with her friend led to an abusive and destructive showdown in the middle of a quiet Southern Downs town.
The confrontation between Krystal-Taih Jean Weil and her former friend broke out at about 10.30am on August 23, when the other woman threw a rock at Weil’s windscreen as she drove past on Herbert Street, Allora.
Warwick Magistrates Court heard the 28-year-old became enraged and drove directly to the other woman’s house, where she was witnessed by a neighbour pulling up outside abruptly.
Police prosecutor Ken Wiggan said Weil picked up a large rock and walked into the woman’s driveway, where she hurled the rock three times at the glass sliding door.
“Although the glass didn’t shatter, it caused three different smash marks requiring that window to need to be replaced,” Sergeant Wiggan said.
“(Weil) got back in her car, drove around the block and passed the complainant who was still in the vicinity of the supermarket and yelled out to her, ‘How do you like your window now, you f —king slut!’.”
The other woman almost immediately reported the damage to police, who soon caught up with Weil and uncovered the apparent source of the conflict.
The mother-of-three claimed she bought $150 worth of marijuana for her friend at the other woman’s request between January 30 and the August incident, but was never repaid despite asking several times.
Defence lawyer Phillip Crook contended the conflict eventually led to a bitter falling out between the pair, which exacerbated Weil’s pre-existing depression and anxiety.
“It was the action of the other person by throwing the stone that really precipitated the matter. Unfortunately she reacted straight away, and she’s very remorseful now about it,” Mr Crook said.
Weil pleaded guilty to one count each of supplying a dangerous drug and wilful damage.
She was fined $600 and ordered to pay $605 restitution for the window replacement.
No conviction was recorded.
