A Warwick man who allegedly committed a months-long crime spree including burglaries, car theft, and arson across the region has been charged with another stack of offences, and is now set to spend at least the next several weeks behind bars.

Jaime John Abbas was arrested at a Warwick home last week in relation to a string of alleged break-ins and thefts across the wider region, which police say are connected to those the man is already charged with.

Police will allege the 27-year-old broke into the Glengallan Piggery on June 21 and stole a safe and several firearms, only a day after he broke into an Allora hardware store and made off with money stolen from inside a safe.

Mr Abbas allegedly committed another several burglaries throughout May and June, including stealing tools and guns from two Sandy Camp properties on the same day, forcing his way into Powerlink on Ogilvie Rd and taking a Ford ute and computer equipment, and stealing a car from a Massie home.

It will be further alleged that the Warwick man stole registration plates from a vehicle parked outside Wheatvale State School and a quantity of clothing from Condamine Clothing at Pittsworth on July 1.

Warwick police acting officer-in-charge Sergeant Cameron Slater said Mr Abbas was also alleged to have set fire to a Subaru car that had previously been stolen by another person.

“Detectives have gone to an address on Capital Dr and located (Mr Abbas), and he’s had an ice pipe in his bedroom,” Sergeant Slater said.

Mr Abbas was one of four Warwick men arrested last month in relation to a months-long string of burglaries and thefts at rural properties across the region, and was charged with 13 offences including entering a dwelling or premises by break and committing an indictable offence, receiving tainted property, and arson.

He was initially released on bail under the condition that he would not return to Warwick unless ordered to, but breached that requirement several times in the weeks leading up to his second arrest.

The Warwick man now faces an additional six charges of breaking and entering, two each of stealing and unlawful use of a motor vehicle, three of breaching a bail condition, and one each of arson of a motor vehicle and possessing a drug utensil.

His bail was revoked when he appeared in Warwick Magistrates Court last week, with Mr Abbas to be remanded in custody until his matter is next mentioned on September 7.
