Police have revealed new details on the investigation into a dead body found in the car park outside a busy Warwick supermarket.
Officers were called to Spano’s IGA Warwick at about 4pm on Wednesday after a member of the public reported finding a dead body in a parked car.
Witnesses reported seeing several police crews scouring the IGA car park after the body was called in, with officers crawling on the ground during their thorough search and blocking off the carpark with crates.
A Queensland Police spokeswoman confirmed on Thursday morning that it was a 42-year-old Gold Coast man found inside the vehicle, and it was likely his body had been there for at least a few days.
The death has been ruled non-suspicious, but no cause of death has been confirmed at this stage.
Police are now in the process of notifying the man’s next-of-kin.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
Earlier, witnesses reported seeing several police crews at the scene after the body was reported, with officers thoroughly searching the area and crawling on the ground.
