How do juries decide a verdict?

Warwick residents are on high alert following a string of early morning break ins and suspicious behaviour reported in the community, with an offender in custody for similar alleged offences.

A 16-year-old from Warwick was arrested and charged by police on January 6 at Ipswich relating to multiple alleged property offences, including break and enters late last year.

Four Warwick addresses were targeted just before New Year's Eve, and the accused remains in custody, expected to face court next month.

This comes as Warwick residents have taken to Facebook to warn fellow residents about sightings of attempted break ins in the region, as thefts and break ins continue to strike the region.

An anonymous resident took to a community forum to warn residents about a string of break ins on Monday morning.

Two men were noted ‘poking’ around people’s cars about 4am on Weewondilla Road Monday, luckily for the poster, their car was locked and dogs scared the would-be burglars off.

The poster reported the household was woken at 4.06am after hearing talking outside their home.

Unfortunately, residents on Horseman Road reported content stolen from their vehicles.

The same men were believed to be seen on Albert Street, while a resident claims to have seen them attempt to break into their car at 2.30am on Dragon Street.

The poster warned residents, “please lock your home, including fly screen doors, and vehicles up.”

Warwick police relayed the message to stay safe and prevent similar incidents by ensuring property is correctly locked up, and to report any suspicious activity to police.

Warwick CIB Detective Sergeant Glen Roche said there had only been one reported incident of an attempted car theft so far this year.

“It’s as simple as lock it up, lock everything up,” Sergeant Roche said.

Residents are urged if they see anything suspicious to report to Policelink on 131 444 for 24 hour support.
