Dramatic footage taken by school holiday shoppers at Warwick’s Rose City Shoppingworld has revealed leaky roofs during Thursday’s afternoon storm.
Shoppers via social media revealed the afternoon downpour had shown off some flaws in the drainage system at the shopping centre.
Rose City Shoppingworld told Warwick Daily News the centre was quick to spot the leak and the centre is remaining open and that shoppers had no reason to avoid the complex.
One Facebook commenter wrote, “I think there needs to be some design changes. I am amazed at the number of shopping centre roofs that leak in a big way,” they wrote.
Another noted, “any slight bit of rain and that shopping centre leaks, has happened for years, always buckets all over the place”.
A spokesman for the Bureau of Meteorology said Warwick had received 16mm of rain since 9am Thursday, which would ease off into the night, with only a small sprinkle possible for Friday.
As Warwick heads into the weekend the rain is expected to settle down, with Friday bringing only a 10 per cent chance of showers into the weekend.
The Bureau of Meteorology predicts the weekend is expected to be mostly cloudy with temperatures to peak in the low 30s.
There are no major roads closed currently according to RACQ.
