Truck driver confirmed dead after crash on Gore Highway at Wyaga near Goondiwindi

Investigations are continuing into the cause of a horror crash which claimed the life of a truck driver on the Gore Highway at Wyaga in the state’s south.

Emergency services were called just before 3.20am Monday and arrived to find the semi-trailer jackknifed about 150m from the road and ended up in the scrub.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews worked to extinguish the blaze which had consumed about 80 per cent of the truck by the time of their arrival just before 4.15am.

The sole occupant of the vehicle was located inside, deceased.

Police on Tuesday confirmed officers were working to identify the driver, and investigations into the circumstances were ongoing.

“The Forensic Crash Unit is calling for anyone in the area with relevant dashcam footage to make contact,” a Queensland police spokesman said.
