One of southern Queensland’s biggest tourism events is set to make its icy biennial return this July.
Winter is officially upon us with many still holding onto hope real snowflakes will fall from the sky for the beloved Snowflakes in Stanthorpe.
Holiday parks and motels in the region have been booked out for months in advance of the much-anticipated spectacle, with big crowds expected at the 2025 event.
Event organiser Trace Gosney said while ticket sales have been a little slow this time, they’re expecting a surge in the coming weeks as the festival approaches.
“I think it will be similar to last time where ticket sales just went through the roof a few weeks before, we also had huge amounts of people purchasing tickets at the gate too,” he said.
Mr Gosney said it’s events like Snowflakes and the Apple and Grape festival that have kept Stanthorpe on the map as a tourist destination.
The event is expected to attract up to 13,000 across the three days, with record numbers coming through the gate on Saturday and Sunday at the 2023 event.
Event highlights include the much-anticipated snowfield which opens on the Saturday, where toboggans will be ready to be towed, giant snowglobes and inflatables will also keep all ages entertained.
The event will kick off on Friday, July 4 with street stalls and entertainment in Stanthorpe’s CBD, while Saturday and Sunday’s major events will be held at the Stanthorpe Showgrounds.
