Family and friends have shared their heartbreak at the sudden and tragic loss of Kyle Maher, the bright and talented man who was killed in a horrific crash at Morgan Park Raceway in Warwick this week.

The 32-year-old suffered critical injuries after coming off his motorbike on Friday afternoon during the Motorcycle Sportsmen of Queensland Endurance Event.

Paramedics worked urgently to try to save him, but he sadly died at the scene.

Born in London in the United Kingdom before moving with his family to the Gold Coast at age 12, Kyle then travelled to Canberra where he served in the Australian Defence Force for several years.

Kyle then relocated again to Brisbane at the end of his time in the ADF, where he launched IT and web-services business BEST-Dev and built it into a successful venture with a growing clientele base.

His younger brother Reis remembered Kyle as not only an accomplished and widely travelled young man, but one who easily made friends and had an impact wherever he went.

He said motorsports were one of his big brother’s greatest passions, with Kyle’s business website proudly displaying its support for the Motorcycle Sportsmen of Queensland and super bikes community.

“Kyle was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and attended all of the track days at Morgan Park Raceway. He was well-loved and known in that community,” he said.

“In fact, in all of the circles and communities he has been a part of, Kyle was very much loved and admired.

“His loss is being felt deeply across the world, with family and friends in many countries and right along the east coast of Australia.”

Morgan Park Raceway event co-ordinator Don Hughes said the shocking incident was being felt keenly by the tight-knit motorsports community, describing Kyle as one of the event’s most experienced riders and trainers.

“The committee and Warwick District Sporting Car Club members would like to convey our condolences to Kyle’s parents and family,” he said.

“Any sudden death is always a difficult situation to understand for all groups involved, and especially the Motorcycle Sportsmen group.”

Motorcycle Sportsmen of Queensland issued a statement on Friday after the tragic incident, notifying competitors the club’s weekend of racing and final event for the year would not go ahead.

“As a club we would sincerely like to thank all competitors, officials, teams, and volunteers for their ongoing support and understanding at this difficult time,” it read.

Heartfelt condolences have flowed from the wider community in the 24 hours since news of the crash broke, with dozens eager to offer their support to a family who suffered such devastating loss at the Warwick racetrack.

“Condolences to the family, friends, and everyone that was there when it happened,” Hayley Holt shared on social media.

“My heart is so full of sadness for this poor man and his family,” Rosina Vendramin said.

“Rest in peace mate. God bless,” John Stedman wrote.

Kyle is survived by parents Sharon and Peter, younger siblings Reis, Shauna, and Jordan, and his beloved German Shepherd Zeus.

Police investigations into the crash are continuing, with a report to be prepared for the Coroner.

Funeral service arrangements are yet to be finalised.
