Residents aged 16 and up are being urged to take advantage of the vaccination hub in Warwick this week. Here’s how you can book in now.

Darling Downs Health has extended the operating hours of its Pfizer clinic at the Warwick Showgrounds to ensure as many residents as possible get the vaccine.

A Pfizer vaccination clinic is now under way in Warwick, with all residents aged 16 and up being urged to take advantage of the service.

The clinic will run at the Warwick Showgrounds from 7.30am – 6.30pm from Tuesday to Friday and 7.30am – 11.30am on Saturday.

A Darling Downs Health spokeswoman said the extended clinic hours were in response to a growing need to provide better protection for communities along the Queensland-NSW border.

“Everyone aged 16 years and above is encouraged to attend the vaccination clinic. However, residents over 60 years are reminded that AstraZeneca is the preferred vaccination for that age group,” the spokeswoman said.

Residents who have already received one dose of AstraZeneca must get a second dose of the same vaccine.

The Warwick clinic will follow on from the vaccination hub in Stanthorpe earlier this month, where more than 1600 people received their first dose of the Pfizer jab.

Residents should preregister and book their appointment at the Warwick Pfizer clinic via this link, being sure to select “any other eligible criteria” in the cohort field when completing the form.

Appointments can also be made by calling 134 COVID.

Residents should take ID, their Medicare card, and a pen, along with a hat and water in case of extended wait times.
